I've been artistic all my life. At 23 I was doing decoupage for Christmas bazaars. That was the year I blew a hole in the bedroom wall with a shotgun. (Long story) One summer was spent making macrame plant hangers and wall hangings. My baby and my macramé were hung from the patio cover (Ben in a jump seat). In 1991, I took the opportunity to "run away" from my conservative, responsible life and I moved to Nahcotta, WA. on Willapa Bay to live with an oysterman. This resulted in an epiphany for me--I discovered hand papermaking! It was miraculous that you could cook grass and from that create beautiful paper. I was active in the annual oyster festival, winning blue ribbons in my category (the only entries but who’s counting). I received commissions to create wedding invitations which included all the neighboring wildflowers and a 5x10’ display mat for the Ark Restaurant. In 2002 & 2003 I attended Artfest and learned from many wonderful teachers. 2006 was my third experience and all the camaraderie & energy finally came to me including my involvement in the 3 fatbook groups. I feel personally connected to a wide circle of fellow artists.
